In early 2025, members of the INVENTUM association uncovered a nearly 2,000-year-old Roman sword in the forests near Częstochowa. The double-edged spatha, likely used by Roman cavalry, was found in three fragments—suggesting it may have played a role in a burial ritual. Experts believe it could be linked to the Przeworsk culture, possibly the Vandals, indicating a warrior’s cremation site where his weapon was symbolically left behind.

The find adds to growing evidence of contact between local tribes and the Roman Empire, supported by previous discoveries of Roman-era artifacts near Mokra and Złotolasy, housed in the Częstochowa Museum.
